Team Voice Channels

You can create a temporary voice channel for your team by joining the Join to Create voice channel. This will then create a new voice channel and automatically move you to the channel.

This new voice channel will be named <your username>’s channel.

The channel will be public - making it easier for your team members and mentors to join if needed.

It will disappear when there are zero people in the channel. You can always re-create your voice channel by joining again

I want to change the voice channel name

You can do this in the #teams channel or in your temporary team’s text channel (see below).

In the chat text area, write /voice name and click on the respective command. Use this command to rename the channel

Hit Enter and you should see your team name change to the name you put in the command.

Team Text “Channels”

Instead of us creating text channels for every team, we are giving you the ability to create temporary text channels so you, your team, and mentors can communicate. We are leveraging the power of Discord Threads to make this happen.

All temporary channels/threads for teams will be found under the #teams channel in Discord.

Creating a New Thread

The easiest way to start a thread is by pressing the “+” button on the message field. You will see a Create Thread option. This will open up a new panel that will let you create a new thread.

<aside> 📢 When creating your thread:

• your thread name has your team’s name - that way it makes it easier to find for your team members and mentors
• your “Archive After Inactivity” setting is set to 24 hours or greater

Your thread is public by default. You won’t be able to create a private thread.
